Gail Ackerman was first drawn to hatha
yoga in her early teens to address chronic headaches and physical
discomfort.
Because of her personal experience, she has a compassionate
approach to teaching others and helping all students with their
personal challenges. Gail's teaching incorporates respect for each
individual and invites all students to move deeper within to find
their own inner guidance and to more fully understand their bodies
and its innate wisdom. Gail is a certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor,
and is experienced with the healing aspects of therapeutic yoga
as well as the benefits of a varied and active class practice.

A key element to the Iyengar Yoga system
is exploring the alignment of one's structure (bones) while doing
any given pose. This is followed by strengthening one's musculature to
maintain and deepen one's understanding of the pose and its benefits.
The use of various props allows students of any capability the
opportunity to find this connection of muscle to bone that develops
unity, harmony and balance.

The
benefits of an Iyengar Hatha Yoga practice can be felt after the
very first session. A sense of openess stays with you throughout
the day. The body feels lighter, the mind more clear and able to
focus. A regular on-going practice
will deepen and broaden these experiences and enable the practioner to see how
the daily application of yogic philosophy can enrich one's entire life. As the
the physical practice matures all aspects of one's life are drawn into a wholeness
of body, mind and spirit.

ourselves from within. Yoga is a light which, once lit, will never dim. The better
your practice, the brighter the flame" B.K.S. Iyengar
